Bariatric Surgery in Obesity Treatment

Obezite Tedavisinde Bariatrik Cerrahi

There are 2 types of surgeries performed in obesity surgery. The more advanced of these are combined surgeries.

The most common one is to reduce the stomach capacity and allow less food to enter, an example of which is Sleeve Gastrectomy. Others are combined surgeries. Both the passage of food is restricted and the body is not able to benefit from the food eaten. Examples of these are gastric bypasses and BPD (Bilio pancreatic diversion) surgeries.

If the patient still cannot lose weight despite going to a dietician and receiving the current treatment, surgical intervention can be considered as an option. Here, one of the surgeries listed above is preferred after consultation with the patient and according to the patient's needs and eating habits.

These surgeries are performed completely with laporoscopic, minimally invasive techniques. In other words; 3, 4, 5 or 6 holes are made by entering the patient's abdomen with the help of a telescope. This allows the patient to return to his/her daily life and social environment more easily. The pain of the patient is also less with this surgery.
